It’s time once again for the annual Robert August Surf & Turf charity event in Tamarindo, Costa Rica! Mark your calendars for July 28 through August 4 and join your friends Robert August, Wingnut, and all the regulars for a great time that benefits the kids of Costa Rica. If you have been to any of the previous events, you know the fun that is packed into each day. If you haven’t been yet, here’s a look at just some of what is in store:

Thursday, July 28th - 6pm-9pm Registration gathering at Tamarindo Vista Villas.

Who it benefits:
For the fifth straight year, the Robert August Surf & Turf is partnering with the Cepia Foundation, a local non-profit group that strives to improve the lives of children in Costa Rica. The Robert August Surf & Turf event has helped to raise over $20,000 each year for the past four events, allowing Cepia to expand its operations and reach more children. For more information about the organization, please visit www.asociacioncepia.org

What does it cost:
This year we will be charging $250 for your entry fee. This is cheaper than it has been in previous years, so you have no excuses for not showing up! The Robert August Surf & Turf event benefits the Cepia Foundation, a Costa Rican charitable group that raises money to improve the lives of children in Costa Rica. www.asociacioncepia.org
Please make all checks payable to Cepia Foundation.

How to get there:
Airline flights by most major U.S. airlines can be booked into Liberia, leaving Tamarindo only a short drive away. You may also fly into San Jose and take a 90 minute commuter flight into Tamarindo through Sansa Airlines. However, due to the size of the commuter plane, surfboard restrictions apply and long boards cannot be accommodated. For this reason, we recommend flying into Liberia.

Where to stay:
We recommend  the Tamarindo Vista Villas for accommodations during the event. There are certainly other options, including house rentals on the beach. Click on the link below to make your reservation, and be sure to mention the Robert August Surf N' Turf event for additional discount.

How to sign up:
Stay tuned to this site for more information on how to sign up for this years event. We will be updating the site with sign up information very soon.

Other frequently asked questions:
Can my family come along with me?
- Of course! The structure of the event is set up to accommodate families as well as individuals. Many people have brought their families with them to previous events and had a great time. Most events, such as the surfing and sunset cruise, are perfect for families.

Do I need to sign up with three other people in order to have a team for the golf tournament?
- No. If you have three other people that you want to play with, let us know. If you don’t, we will pair you up with others looking for teammates

I am not a great surfer or golfer. How competitive is it?
- The focus of the event is not competition, it is all about having a great time while helping some people out. We have had participants of all levels attend and enjoy previous events.

I can’t make the whole week, is that okay?
- Of course. Friday thru Sunday makes up the bulk of the scheduled activities, but we will be there all week with activities and events planned for anyone who is around.
